Intro to Rock Climbing

This is a great way to spend the day in North Conway. Being only 10 minutes from Cathedral Ledge and Whitehorse Ledge, there’s something for everyone! You can enjoy beautiful rock climbing and then go to the main strip and enjoy the local amenities and shops North Conway has to offer!

During this course, you will learn everything from putting on a harness, to belaying, to climbing techniques. We will primarily be in single-pitch terrain and be doing something called top-roping. No prior climbing experience is needed! Beginners, families and groups welcome!

Every venue is condition dependent, WMG will pick the best suitable place for us to climb.

Make the Leap: Gym to Crag

Have you been climbing inside and want to make the transition to outdoor climbing?

Look no further! Our Gym to Crag course is designed with making the transition to outdoor climbing as safe and fun as possible. Come join AMGA Certified Guides for a full day of skills and enjoyment!

During this course, you will learn:

Basics of Anchor Building for sport climbs
Risk Management in outdoor settings
Route Reading and climbing techniques
Lead belaying, catching falls, soft catch vs. hard catch
Crag Etiquette and Leave No Trace principles
Rappelling and steps to do so safely
And much much more!

We will primarily be in single-pitch terrain and be top-roping for the day. No prior climbing experience is required but can be useful! Beginners, families and groups welcome!

Rock Rescue 101

So what do you do when things don't go as planned? What exactly do you do when your climber passes out due to a bee sting and they're allergic to bees?

An age old question that many climbers hope to never have to answer but one that must be discussed. Rescue skills are skills you want to have in your back pocket and not have to use but know how to.

During this course, you will learn:

Basic Knots & Hitches needed for rock rescues
How to do a belay pickoff
How to create a chest harness and keep an unconscious climber up-right
Various ways to ascend and descend a rope
How to escape a belay to call for help or get help
Raises and lowers
Haul Systems
And much much more!

We will primarily be in single-pitch terrain performing Single Pitch rescues and scenarios.

Our advanced rock climbing is designed for the rock climber who’s had some experience climbing wants to take the next step in their climbing to progress to that next level. Depending on your goal, we can climb classics, we can teach you to set up top ropes, become more efficient with multi-pitch climbing, or how to setup rappels. Destination: Moab!

WMG is so exited to announce that we will now be offering trips to Moab every April and November! Due to the heat, sun and scheduling, we will only be offering trips in these months at the moment!

Moab is well known for its mountain biking but the rock climbing there is world class! There’s so much to offer here from single pitch cragging at the world-famous Wall Street, to tower chasing on Castleton Tower or Ancient Art!

The experience of climbing in Moab is like none other. Sandstone is such a unique rock type that us east coasters don’t get to climb that often. Wall Street has some of the best cragging in our eyes with literal roadside cragging! Castleton Tower is a 4 pitch, 350 foot tower with beautiful 360-degree views. Ancient Art is another 4 pitch classic that puts you on top of the wildest feature we’ve ever seen!

Each trip will start with the conversation of “what are your goals"?” From there, we will create custom itineraries to help you reach your goals!
